			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, cases of genital warts are on the increase in women over the age of 40. The number of women with this infection had quadrupled over the last 4 decades according the <a href="http://www.theonlineclinic.co.uk/STD-Treatment.asp">std testing</a> facility reports.</p>
<p>The HPV vaccine treats VIN as well as preventing cervical cancer and warts. VIN stands for vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia and is also known as genital warts. Genital warts can be the cause of vulvar cancer although mostly benign.  In addition, the risk is small compared to the risk of cervical, ovarian or uterine cancer and it is slow growing hence most women who have it are over 40 but young people can suffer from it too.</p>
<p>Women should keep any eye on their genital area for unusual spots and lumps and having warts taken off is a good way to prevent cancerous cells growing. Women with VIN should be screened every six months to a year. The vaccination will not help those who have already been exposed to VIN.</p>
<p>In young men who have sex with men (MSM), the Gardasil vaccine was seen to reduce rates of anal intraepithelial neoplasia, AIN according to a recent study published in the <em>New England Journal of Medicine</em>. This proves that vaccinating men as well as women will prevent against HPV related conditions and even certain cancers.</p>
<p>The researchers who carried out the study state that 80 to 90% of anal cancer in the states are linked to the HPV virus.</p>
<p>Gardasil protects against both genital warts and anal warts which should be of particular interest to MSM.  It is great that the vaccination is being publicised for use in females and that it is largely free for younger girls aged 11 and 12 years however I feel we are missing out on a an opportunity to get rid of this virus.</p>
<p>One will not be diagnosed with HPV without a blood test and no std home testing will give one the answer.  Genital warts are usually a sign and will usually not be the cancer causing strain.</p>

Without enough quantity or quality sleep, you&#8217;re bound to feel and look tired and you&#8217;re at a greater likelihood of developing depression and anxiety. How you go about getting rid of sleep disorders will depend on which one you&#8217;ve been diagnosed with. If your sleeping problems last more than a week or so, it&#8217;s important to see your doctor for a thorough evaluation, an accurate diagnosis and a personalized treatment plan. </p>
<p>Here are some tips for getting rid of sleep disorders, based on the disorder itself. </p>
<p><strong>Primary Insomnia</strong></p>
<p>Primary insomnia occurs when you can&#8217;t sleep for several nights in a row. It&#8217;s not a passing thing. It&#8217;s a chronic problem and can make it difficult to go about your life as normal. Treating it usually requires undergoing sleep study and major lifestyle changes. Sticking to a very strict sleep routine, including going to bed at the same time and walking up at the same time can help, as can avoiding watching TV or being on the computer for an hour before bedtime. </p>
<p><strong>Secondary Insomnia</strong></p>
<p>Secondary insomnia can be chronic as well, but it&#8217;s caused by an underlying problem. For instance, being under a lot of stress can cause insomnia to flare up. If you lay in bed night after night running through tomorrow&#8217;s to-do list, this is likely the cause your problem. To combat this, try writing down a list of all the things you need to do tomorrow. Prioritize it and try to put it out of your mind. </p>
<p><strong>Sleep Apnea</strong></p>
<p>Sleep apnea is a condition that causes you to suddenly stop breathing in the middle of the night. When you resume breathing, your body may jerk and startle you awake. Or, the lack of a regular breathing pattern can make it difficult to get truly restful sleep. Common treatment is the use of a CPAP machine, which forces your throat to remain open and allow for the continuous passage of air. </p>
<p><strong>Irregular Schedules</strong></p>
<p>Having to work at night or otherwise maintain a non-traditional schedule can cause insomnia and sleep disturbances. Even if you&#8217;re exhausted, sleeping during the day can be difficult and result in restless sleep. You can try to mimic the environment of nighttime, however. Purchase blackout curtains to block out the daylight and consider running a white noise machine to block out daytime noises like people outside, lawn mowers, etc. </p>
<p><strong>Alcohol and Drug Abuse</strong></p>
<p>Taking drugs or alcohol regularly may cause sleep disorders. Even though alcohol is a depressant, it can cause you to get restless sleep or contribute to insomnia. Limit or discontinue your use of drugs and alcohol to stop this issue. Avoid drinking before bedtime, even if you think it will help you sleep. If you do drink, consume no more than one beverage if you&#8217;re a woman or two if you&#8217;re a man.</p>
<p><strong>Restless Legs Syndrome</strong></p>
<p>If you deal the restless legs syndrome, it can seriously impact your ability to sleep through the night. This condition causes weird sensations in your legs like prickling, burning, tingling or twitching. These feelings can make you incredibly uncomfortable and make it next to impossible to sleep. To treat this condition, see your doctor for a diagnosis and medication. You may have a nutritional deficiency that&#8217;s causing this problem. Making an effort to move around and get exercise during the day can also help in reducing your restless legs syndrome symptoms. </p>
<p><strong>Health Issues</strong></p>
<p>For some, their sleep disorder problems are caused by a health condition. Diseases like high blood pressure and arthritis can keep you up at night and make it difficult to sleep. To combat the sleep problems, it&#8217;s essential to seek proper treatment for these health conditions. Even suffering from allergies can keep you up and night and significantly disrupt your sleep. In all cases, take medication as prescribed by your doctor and if you have allergies consider taking an antihistamine before bed to limit the sniffles. You may also wish to sleep on a slight incline with several pillows to prevent your nose from getting stuffed up. </p>
<p>Sleeping disorders are nothing to joke about and can make you feel like you&#8217;re walking through a fog on most days. It can even slow down your reaction time and make you a hazard behind the wheel or on the job. <p>To reduce stress, try some of these “organic” methods:</p>
<p><strong>Write</strong></p>
<p>People who keep journals or write daily blogs listing the things that happen day to day can start to realize patterns in what causes stress and how they cope. By learning what triggers stress, you can have a better understanding on how to prepare yourself and how to mentally prepare yourself to face the oncoming battles. Also, by recognizing how you react to stress will also help you take a step back and think more clearly before making a decision. By keeping a journal, you will be able to recognize how you felt, both physically and emotionally, as well as being able to make yourself feel better afterwards.</p>
<p><strong>Stop bad habits</strong></p>
<p>Many people turn to different ways to cope with stress. This can include smoking, drinking, over or under eating, withdrawing from friends and family, sleeping too much, zoning out in front of the TV or computer, or abusing prescription medication. Although these things may give some temporary relief, they typically cause more problems down the road and should be avoided at all costs.</p>
<p><strong>Manage your life</strong></p>
<p>Both professionally and personally, there are steps that you can take to get ahold of your life. First off is to learn to say NO when necessary. Sometimes when you are too nice or easy going, others feel like they can take advantage of you by adding on more responsibility that you want or need. Know your limits and stick to them. Managing your life also includes reducing your daily to-do list (cutting out the unnecessary), avoiding people who stress you out, and avoiding hot-topics during conversations (such as religion or politics) altogether.</p>
<p><strong>Change your situation</strong></p>
<p>If you can avoid or cut out the stressful things in your life, you will have to learn to alter them. Plan ahead and manage your time better. Don’t stretch yourself too thin and don’t commit to things that you know you don’t have the time for. Altering your situation also includes communicating better to those around you by not bottling up your feelings but expressing them and conveying your message clearly. Compromise is probably the best way to change a sticky situation that you are in, but make sure that you realize that compromising is performed by both sides of the parties involved (that means yourself!).</p>
<p><strong>Adapt</strong></p>
<p>If you can avoid or change the situation, you will have to learn to adapt. This may take some time for the perfectionist, but constantly setting yourself up for failure only increases stress levels and doesn’t accomplish anything. Lower your expectations and learn to be OK with less than perfection and “go with the flow” once in a while. Also, learn to take a step back from the situation and see what really matters. Sometimes we get caught up in a heated situation and don’t look at what’s really important and ask ourselves “will this situation matter tomorrow, a month from now, a year from now?”.</p>
<p><strong>Change your attitude</strong></p>
<p>When you have a poor perception of yourself and think negatively all of the time, your body reacts as if you were in a really stressful situation. Think positively and remove the words Never, Should, Must, and Always from your vocabulary.</p>
<p><strong>Acceptance</strong></p>
<p>Accept the things you cannot change, such as other people’s behaviors, the world, and the fact that people make mistakes. By letting go of anger and resentment, you can let yourself begin to heal and move on. And try to look on the bright side of everything. There’s a reason why there is a saying that goes “What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.” Think of these types of opportunities as personal growth and being able to overcome and move on in life.</p>
<p><strong>Have fun</strong></p>
<p>Make time do to the things you love. By wrapping yourself up in your work, you can easily forget that there is more to life than just receiving a paycheck and that you used to do things outside of work. Take a stroll, go to the local park, enjoy a bar-b-q with friends, workout, go watch a movie, whatever interests you that you enjoy doing – just do it! Finding time for yourself and nurturing yourself is a necessity to staying sane, healthy, and happy.</p>
<p><strong> Live healthy</strong></p>
<p>By keeping your body healthy, you can build a resistance to stress. By exercising consistently, eating healthy, reducing caffeine and sugar, avoiding nicotine, alcohol, and drugs, and getting enough sleep, you can mold your body into one that can take the daily abuse of life and stress and you can at least have a good foundation to work with. If you don’t physically feel good, you are less likely to handle stress mentally or emotionally very well.</p>
<p><strong>Reward</strong></p>
<p>Don’t forget to give yourself a pat on the back once in a while instead of accomplishing something and moving right onto the next thing on your list. Acknowledge your accomplishments and take the time out to enjoy the moment – you deserve it!</p>

Taking the leap from being a CNA to having an associate degree in nursing (LPN) is a great way to continue your education.</p>
<p>What does an LPN do?<br />
The first thing a CNA needs to do is decide if nursing is right for them. <a href="http://www.mshealthcareers.com/careers/lpn.htm">Licensed Practical Nurses</a> carry more responsibility and are often in charge of managing CNAs in a nursing home or physical therapy setting. They work directly under doctors, facility coordinators and occasionally RNs, or registered nurses.<br />
Depending on the setting, LPNs could be in charge of tasks as varied as passing medications, attending to patients’ needs and working closely with doctors to address changes in a patient’s health.<br />
LPNs who work in nursing homes or hospices are often the first to notice if a patient begins to develop a new health issue or if their medication isn’t addressing a pre-existing one. Since they see the patients on an hourly basis versus doctors who see them weekly, they need to feel confident in their assessment of a patient’s condition.<br />
Who should become an LPN?<br />
People who are suited to becoming an LPN should be able to think quickly on their feet. Patients often need immediate help and they need nurses who are able to give it to them. They must be able to make decisions quickly, as well. If a patient is coding, there isn’t time to consult someone before making a call on what to do.<br />
Much like CNAs, nurses need to know more about the medical field than their job description technically calls for. They need to be up on the latest procedures and treatments so they can make recommendations and know what to steer clear of. LPNs must always follow a doctor’s prescriptions and orders, but they’re certainly allowed to communicate with doctors to come up with better care plans.</p>
<p>How to go from CNA to LPN:<br />
Many CNAs go into the field specifically to become a nurse. Often, they do it because they want to work in a field they enjoy while they get their degree or because they’ve found a facility or hospital that will help them pay for their tuition. If you’re not certain what your job’s policies are on continuing education, talk to your HR representative.<br />
CNAs have an advantage when going into nursing because they’re able to work at the facility they may want to continue working in. Even if you want to change locations, you can always get a recommendation from your current place of employment that will put you ahead of those just starting in the field.<br />
Another good opportunity to take is to tell your coworkers about your career goals. LPNs will often let you take on more responsibility if they know you’re interested in doing their job one day. They also see continuing your education as a sign that you’re engaged and interested in your job. Taking on more duties now will build your reputation up at your company so that when you’re ready for a new job title, your company will be ready to give it to you.</p>

<p>Rumours have spread throughout the commission&#8217;s meetings about many alternatives which have been thrown into the ring. The commission have allegedly ruled out 100 per cent state funding, despite a recent poll indicating that 43 per cent of the public would have favoured this.</p>
<p>It seems like it is going to be difficult to please the public on this issue. Dilnot is rumoured to favour a system where individuals pay the first £50,000 for any care that they require, with the Government paying for any bills over that cap.</p>
<p>The Dilnot Commission have urged ministers to accept their recommendations but reports have suggested it could be difficult to get the Government onside with their current suggestions. Political journalists have suggested that this could be the latest issue to split the Coalition government in half.</p>
<p>Whatever decision is made it is unlikely to come into effect for at least a couple of years &#8211; but the decision could still prove to be a defining moment for Prime Minister David Cameron.</p>
