I didn’t have a clue how to use it to promote my business, and I was often discouraged with my very small following. If you’ve found yourself in this same position, don’t worry, because I’m going to teach you some surefire ways to get free Twitter followers.</p>
<p><strong>Don’t Fall for the Fakes:</strong></p>
<p>Before I go into my three proven strategies, let me warn you that there are a lot of fakes out there. Tons of software programs promise to gain you hundreds or even thousands of followers instantly, but the truth of the matter is – they usually don’t work. In fact, some of these software programs are even dangerous and can harm your computer.</p>
<p>Even if you’re lucky enough to come across a program that does work, most are against Twitter’s term sand service agreements. This means that if you get caught using one, you will lose your Twitter account! Instead of wasting time falling for these fakes, devote yourself to my strategies for real results.</p>
<p><strong>How I Got Started:</strong></p>
<p>You’re probably wondering just who I am and how I know so much about Twitter. I actually have my good friend, Deborah Carney, to thank. I interviewed Deborah, who is an outsourced program manager for TeamLoxly.com in November of 2008.</p>
<p>Even though I didn’t really know or understand much about Twitter at the time, Deborah taught me how to put it to work for me and how to do it right. Her advice worked –big time –and I haven’t looked back since. From Deborah’s advice and my own experience, I created my three free strategies.</p>
<p>These strategies can and will work for you if you’re willing to give them a fair try. I know they are the thing that has had the most impact on boosting my brand and my business. <p><strong>Strategy 1) Syndicate an Online Newspaper:</strong></p>

Just make sure that what you show them is relevant and helpful, and that you go that extra mile to connect with and get to know your readers.</p>
<p>The more of yourself you give to your readers, the more likely it is that they will follow you on Twitter. Remember though, that you have to be the one to ask. You can use your author bio to invite readers to follow you on Twitter, and make sure you give them a good reason to do so!</p>
<p>So, if you’re serious about securing more followers and promoting your brand and business, then start brainstorming and guest writing today!</p>
<p><strong>Strategy 3) Make that Thank You Page Work for You</strong></p>
<p>Hands down, strategy 3 is my favorite strategy, and it’s also the most effective. It’s so very simple that absolutely anyone can do it, and you’ll wonder why you haven’t thought of it before!</p>
<p>Don’t feel bad; I didn’t come up with it myself either. I actually have my friend, Joshua Sloan, the VP of Internet Marketing for 1&amp;1 Hosting, the largest and fasting growing hosting company, to thank for this one. The strategy Mr. Sloan taught me is easy to implement and works 100% of the time, guaranteed.</p>
<p>All you have to do is to set it up so that when someone fills in your option form (the form they might use to request more information, share the page, or sign up for your newsletter, etc.), they are redirected to a “thank you” page. On this page, include an invitation to follow you on Twitter.</p>
<p>If you’re feeling a little shy about this, keep in mind that the user wanted more information on you! Also, he or she trusted you enough to give you a name and email address. So, chances are, if you ask, that reader will follow you on Twitter.</p>
<p><strong>Get to Work:</strong></p>

<p>Ever since the advent of the internet in the early  1990&#8242;s, email has become a part of our lives. Countless reports are  published every year with mind-boggling figures of just how many of us  are online and how many billions of email accounts that amounts to.</p>
<p>Initially, of course, email was dismissed by the wider community as  something colloquial and unofficial; letters and jokes that were shared  among friends over their phone lines. Then, of course, businesses  realised that they could send out emails to their customers for a  fraction of the cost of postal &#8211; now already being dubbed &#8220;snail&#8221; mail &#8211;  and soon email became a much more official mode of communication.</p>
<p>With this, businesses big and small got on the bandwagon, opting for  email contacts as a way of speaking directly and instantly to their  customers, yet all the while providing them with direct, easy links to  their webpage. <a href="http://www.mailingmanager.co.uk/">Email  marketing</a> was suddenly not just <em>cheaper</em> than direct mail,  it was <em>better</em>.</p>
<p>Being at the top, however, means that you will always have a plucky  upstart contending your status.</p>
<p>For email, however, the only real challenge came relatively late,  already 18 or so years into its existence.</p>
<p>Speaking to a mass of delegates, Sheryl Sandberg from Facebook issued  the first pot-shot in what would escalate into a full-on war of words  between the two sides. Sandberg&#8217;s comments were echoed and repeated by  those saying email is old and outdated. Email, in turn, retorted with  the statement that social media was just that &#8211; social &#8211; and that email  was a decidedly more official medium.</p>
<p>This petered out soon enough however after numerous reports suggested  that email was indeed the better option, although integrated campaigns  between the two worked even better still.</p>
<p>The debate has since subsided and has provided the only real  challenge to email marketing&#8217;s supremacy in the marketing world. Now,  email still has the lead but with constant evolution and introduction of  new technologies, the newest challenge could be just around the corner.</p>
