One of the London Olympics major legacy ambitions was to get one million more people into regular sport by 2012, and new figures released by Sport England have shown that only 111,000 people have become involved in sport since 2007, 11% of the original target. There have also been falling numbers of 16-19 year olds playing sport with drops in this age range in football, tennis and swimming.

However, the PR surrounding this initiative has been considerable. With a number of London PR firms getting involved to promote different sports and individual athletes such as Tom Daley and Michael Johnson also promoting the involvement of more kids in sport, it might be surprising that the figures show a decline in the number of kids getting involved.

Arguably, sport PR has seen a noticeable push since the target of 1 million more people involved in sport was announced, with gyms and less mainstream sports wanting to get involved. So what is the reason for the lacklustre results?

Firstly, these figures have come a year after the Government announced it was cutting school sport budgets and also reversed the policy of offering free swimming to under-16s and over-65s.

Secondly, according to Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt, “One third of the people we spoke to cited economic factors as a reason for reduction in participation, be it a lost job or working longer hours.” He suggested that “Sport needs to listen to these people and offer pay-and-play schemes, and other ways of allowing people to access sport more affordably.”

The Daily Telegraph’s Chief Sports Reporter, Paul Kelso said, “These latest numbers show that strategy has not been successful and some sports have already had funding cut. Bridging the gap between schools and clubs to retain the interest and activity to teenagers remains a major challenge.”

With more public money being spent on next year’s Olympic Games and cuts being made to school sport. People might start asking whether it would be more beneficial for some of the public money to be put back in to our schools and sport schemes to help nurture our sporting stars of the future, rather than fund an event that people are still uncertain will benefit the UK economy.

It seems that next year’s games will need a strong, positive public relations drive ahead of the event and to put on a show that will make Britons proud. After all, there would be no better way to prove any doubters wrong than hosting an event which has the world congratulating Britain’s success.

We basically have whatever we want at our fingertips with all our modern technology. This includes a variety of choices when it comes to dating. If you can’t find someone in your home town to go out with, then start dating online. You can always consider expanding your horizons, moving out of your comfort zone and signing up for one or more dating sites where you’ll have more choices than you’ll know what to do with!

Dating sites are popping up at a rapid pace, and now your choices extend far beyond the one or two popular sites that advertise continually on television, radio and of course the Internet. From casual dating, to sex-only hook-ups to websites that promise to find the person of your dreams, the Internet offers something for everyone.

Dating online is great for any type of person. Whether you’re very outgoing or the timid type, getting to know someone online prior to meeting in person truly takes the pressure off of first dates. It’s amazing how easy it is to get someone simply by sending an email and exchanging instant messages. When the connection is made, and you’ve advanced to the next step, which is usually the phone date, this is when you really know whether or not you’d want to go ahead and meet this person.

In my vast experience with dating online, I have exchanged multiple emails with a guy and then for whatever reason, it ends there. I have also advanced to the phone date with several matches, and I always knew immediately from talking to them whether I wanted to take it to the next level or stop right there. I have gotten a really good vibe from some men based upon their emails, but if they are unable to carry on a phone conversation, then I don’t want to waste my time meeting face to face. If you’ve done the online dating thing, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

I’ve met some really cool guys from a variety of different dating services. I found that as long as we are both honest about what we’re looking for, online dating can be very successful. At this point in my life, I’m not sure I’m looking for a long-term relationship, but I do like to get out and meet people for friendship and casual dating. I think if the right guy does come along, it might change everything for me, but for now I really appreciate the opportunity to meet a variety of different people. I like having the choices that the Internet provides and I’m sure you will too.

Author Bio: Cara Michaels is constantly sought after for dating and relationship advice. She has taken her knowledge onto the web and frequently writes for Online Dating Sites.

The Irish Government has formulated a set of principles concerning the development of childhood education programs for kids in the country. It is referred to as the ECCE or the Early Childhood Education and Care policy. It takes into account the educational framework for children, from the years of their infancy till the time they are six years of age. The scheme elaborates on the aims of childhood education. Its main objective should be to support the overall development of the child and help them in achieving their educational goals.

There are a number of guiding principles that govern the operation of the ECCE scheme:

Family oriented: The family is the first and the best environment that the child gets during their early years. It is certainly the most appropriate environment for raising kids and the external intervention is necessary for empowering and supporting the families that form a part of the community.

Equitable: Each of the children should have equal opportunity when it comes to accessing the different modes of education and also ensure that kids from a cross section of the society participate in it. Each should have equal opportunity to derive the benefits out of the program.

Child-centric: The program should represent the best interests of the child and their feelings and wishes should be given its due.

Integrated with the ECCE program: Adequate measures should be adopted by all the concerned parties including the community and voluntary sector, people involved in integrated needs analysis, service delivery and policy planning. Each of these has an effective contribution to make when it comes to formulating childcare programs.

Action Oriented: The services delivered in this case need to be extremely focussed and be result oriented. This helps to address specific issues in quick time.

All of these are necessary when it comes to formulating a childcare program that is developed in order to meet the educational needs of a child in his/her early years.

Most parents will tell you that there is no greater joy than the birth of a son or a daughter. Being a parent changes your life forever and deciding whether or not you are ready to have a child is one of the biggest decisions you will be likely to make in your life.

There are so many physical, financial and emotional ramifications to carefully consider before making the decision to have a child. Not least whether you’re ready to put all of your needs on the back burner in order to consider theirs.

This article explores a few of the questions people should ask when deciding whether they are ready for parenting.

Financial ramifications

A recent report from Liverpool Victoria estimated that it will cost over 200,000 to raise a child to the age of 21. In the first year of a child’s life alone, parents will have to invest in food, cots, prams, nappies, clothing; just to name a few items.

Couples should question whether they can afford to take proper care of their child.

Social impact

Younger couples in particular should question whether they have achieved everything they wanted in their social lives before they decide to settle down with a family.

Do they want to travel? Can they handle not socializing as often? Are they ready for severe disturbances in their sleeping patterns? Will having a child mean putting career aspirations on hold? And are both parents ready to do that?

Another important question amongst that young couples is whether their relationship is strong enough to withstand the inevitable strain that comes with raising children.

Parenting can bring out the best or the worst in people’s personalities depending on the situation. Many parents say that you do not discover true love until you have a child. However, it is extremely important to consider all the ramifications before jumping into one of life’s biggest decisions.

The Chinese love horoscope has magical powers that only an ancient civilization can hope to harness. Not to be confused with the Chinese sign horoscope, the love horoscope has the ability to match any two people up that are longing for a lifelong connection with someone else.

A Chinese horoscope prediction is worth its weight in Gold on the mainland. Once an elder is credited with reading the Chinese love horoscope the entire community will set out to do what is necessary in order to make the prediction come true.

There are stories that talk about peasants in ancient China wandering across vast expanses of hostile land in order to meet up with one or the other of the participants that had been revealed in a love horoscope.

The infamous Chinese horoscope goat (I hesitate to even write the words) has been known to deal in a severe manner with anyone who is foolish enough to disrupt the results that have been predicted with the love horoscope.

People mistakenly think that if they were to get a Chinese monthly horoscope that they could forego the Chinese love horoscope. But nothing could be further from the truth. Each horoscope has a special job and one can not take the place of another.

If you do run afoul of the great magical powers of the love horoscope your only hope of redemption would be found in the Chinese horoscope rooster. This majestic creature holds the key to all that was and all that will ever be. It and it alone can banish any spells that have been placed on you or it can make permanent any spells that it deems just.

The Chinese horoscope compatibility test will often precede the reading of the Chinese love horoscope. It is during this test when the true magic of the ancients is revealed.

When you decide to have a Chinese love horoscope interpreted for you make sure that you are willing to follow through on the results. Because no man can guarantee what will happen if you decide to walk away.

There really isn’t a store that caters exclusively to newborn baby gifts. So it is up to you to come up with ideas that make sense and will have some lasting value. The baby really isn’t really going to care about what gift you bring with you to say hello for the first time. But you can be sure that the babies parents will probably give some thought to how you expressed your love and concern to their new bundle of joy!

When deciding on a newborn baby gift you should really be thinking 15-20 years down the road. That is when kids will look start to notice what was given to them all those years ago and by whom. A gift that was chosen with thoughtfulness and concern will be valued. The gift that you gave so long ago is going to be a reflection on how you are thought about by the now young adult.

Baby Gifts For Newborn Boys and Girls

Money- Nothing says I love you like money. A US Government savings bond that matures and can be redeemed when a child turns 18 is always a good gift idea.

Newspaper Front Page- Framing the front page of a newspaper that was published when the baby boy was born will be of great interest when the child grows up. Who doesn’t want to know what was happening the day they were born?

A time capsule of photographs that can be stored away and opened up for viewing years later. Pictures can include everything from hospital scenes, to the weather, people who came to visit, what people were eating, cars that were driven to the house, etc…A real history of what the baby saw but did not remember from the day it was born.

A lot of people like to buy newborn baby gift baskets. This type of gift takes all of the creativity that goes along with buying a special gift away from you and puts it in the hands of a stranger. That is not to say that a newborn baby gift basket is a poor choice, it is just an easy choice.

Gifts for newborn babies might not seem like a big deal to you. But think about if you were to able to look through an old box in the attic and pull out some items that were given to you or your parents from the day you were born. I’m guessing that you would have some emotional thoughts about that. The baby gifts for the newborn child, that have been thoughtfully chosen, are always appreciated later on.

So the next time you are in a position to pick out one or two newborn baby gifts make sure that you really consider that the gift can be a temporary obligation or a long term sign of love and care.

I always wait to the last minute when it comes to buying gifts. Then one day I read a story on the internet titled: Your Best Friend: Gift Ideas and When To Think Of Them. The object of the story was not to wait until the last minute because your hasty buying decision would lead to the purchase of a terrible gift. As it turns out the author of the article was right. Most of the gifts that I buy people are bought at the last minute and are normally pretty lame.

I remember this one time when I had just graduated from the University Of Colorado and one of my close friends birthday was the very next day. I waited until I was driving over to their house to say happy birthday before I bought a gift. I’m almost embarrassed to admit this: I stopped at the 7-11 to pick up a gift. Can you imagine?

Under the best of circumstances you are not going to find a good gift at a convenience store. But at the last minute it is really hopeless. I was young and pretty dumb, considering that I was then a college graduate, and decided a Bozo The Clown Pez Dispenser would be a fun gift.

OK, I admit it….As best friend birthday gift ideas go a Pez dispenser is not all that creative. But I do think my friend enjoyed it. I don’t think his wife thought it was a very good gift. But what they heck, they got divorced the following year.

Now that I’m a bit older I think that best friends gift ideas should be a bit less humorous and a bit more thoughtful. Just because I think that doesn’t mean that I’m any better at picking out gifts. But I can assure you that I don’t shop at the Circle K for anybody’s gifts.

So here is my Top Ten List of Gift Ideas For A Best Friend

A gift card to any restaurant…except maybe McDonald’s

A gift basket from Bass Pro Shops

An impact wrench with adapter for standard and metric lug nuts

Night Vision Binoculars – Now that would be a great gift!

A get out of the dog house pass that you can use on your wife

A one year subscription to Maxim under a false name so that your wife won’t know that it really is meant for you

A second get out of the dog house pass for when your wife figures out the whole Maxim magazine thing

A 72 inch flat panel LCD TV…Hey, it’s for your best friend!

A new car…Hey, It’s for your best friend!

A trip to Disneyland with a 2 week stopover in Las Vegas

Whatever you do don’t give your bud a free car wash. What kind of gift is that? Best friend gift ideas are not that easy to come up with…especially at the last minute. Hooter’s gift certificates work in a pinch!

Many women think that when a man won’t enter into a monogamous long term relationship that the man must have a fear of commitment. I guess that makes women feel better to think that there is something wrong with the man, like he has a fear of commitment phobia. But in reality the man won’t commit to the women because he doesn’t really like her. Hard to believe isn’t it?

It is no secret that more and more men are very wary about getting married. And is it any wonder? With all the game playing that women are involved in why would any man want to enter into any type of permanent relationship with them?

Women are always whining, “Why do these men have such a hard time overcoming fear of commitment?” The joke is on them…Men don’t have anything to overcome, they just don’t want to commit to a life of misery. Let’s take a look at some reasons men steer clear of these commitment phobic relationships…

Loss Of Life: Once a man commits to be with a women exclusively he loses any sense of having his own life. All of a sudden he has to ask permission to do anything. And then for some odd reason the women thinks that she has the right to reject anything the man wants to do. Women are great at coming up with excuses for why the man can’t do what he wants to do.

Let’s see…Why are you with me if you don’t want to spend time with me? You like your friends more than you like me. The excuses go on and on but really what she is really doing is trying to castrate the man. It is either going to be her way or no way. My advice to men is never put up with an ultimatum. Just walkout and don’t bother saying good-bye. There are plenty of other fish in the sea and most are probably better than the one your cutting bait with.

Fenced In Like An Animal: As soon as you commit to a women, move in with her, and think that you will share everything 50/50 you will be exposed to the biggest surprise of your life. What really happens is that the house or apartment that you live in becomes her personal domain. You have lost your say so on how anything is handled within those four walls. This includes where furniture goes, what closet you get to use (assuming you get a closet), whether or not you get to keep anything out in the open (get ready to hear, “That’s disgusting, a lot”), and paint colors..hope you like pink!

Commitment Means Old Housewife Sex: To put it in terms everybody can understand, commitment mean sex with the same women for the rest of your life. Think about that before you let the hag talk you into something you’ll regret forever.

God help you if you happen to fall into the trap of the ultimate commitment, “Marriage”… You will regret the day you were ever born. From day one you will regret being stupid enough to fall into this trap. The sad part is that when you finally realize that you made the biggest mistake of your life, the liberal feminist court system is just waiting to rub salt in your wound. Be prepared to have you house, income, and even dog taken away from you all because that hag you married has convinced an idiot judge that she can’t survive unless you are miserable.

If you were stupid enough to commit then please don’t be insanely idiotic and hand over your credit card. Giving a women a credit card and asking her to be conservative with her spending habits is like waving a bleeding caucus in front of a shark as asking it not to eat it. Come to think of it you would have better luck convincing the shark to give you a break.

Committing to a women can be downright stupid. You need to take that decision very seriously and think it through. This thought process should probably take 15 or 20 years. Believe me after a year or two you will still have a healthy fear of commitment. Trust you instincts!
