Should You Think About Your Best Friend Gift Ideas Ahead Of Time
I always wait to the last minute when it comes to buying gifts. Then one day I read a story on the internet titled: Your Best Friend: Gift Ideas and When To Think Of Them. The object of the story was not to wait until the last minute because your hasty buying decision would lead to the purchase of a terrible gift. As it turns out the author of the article was right. Most of the gifts that I buy people are bought at the last minute and are normally pretty lame.
I remember this one time when I had just graduated from the University Of Colorado and one of my close friends birthday was the very next day. I waited until I was driving over to their house to say happy birthday before I bought a gift. I’m almost embarrassed to admit this: I stopped at the 7-11 to pick up a gift. Can you imagine?
Under the best of circumstances you are not going to find a good gift at a convenience store. But at the last minute it is really hopeless. I was young and pretty dumb, considering that I was then a college graduate, and decided a Bozo The Clown Pez Dispenser would be a fun gift.
OK, I admit it….As best friend birthday gift ideas go a Pez dispenser is not all that creative. But I do think my friend enjoyed it. I don’t think his wife thought it was a very good gift. But what they heck, they got divorced the following year.
Now that I’m a bit older I think that best friends gift ideas should be a bit less humorous and a bit more thoughtful. Just because I think that doesn’t mean that I’m any better at picking out gifts. But I can assure you that I don’t shop at the Circle K for anybody’s gifts.

- A gift card to any restaurant…except maybe McDonald’s
- A gift basket from Bass Pro Shops
- An impact wrench with adapter for standard and metric lug nuts
- Night Vision Binoculars – Now that would be a great gift!
- A get out of the dog house pass that you can use on your wife
- A one year subscription to Maxim under a false name so that your wife won’t know that it really is meant for you
- A second get out of the dog house pass for when your wife figures out the whole Maxim magazine thing
- A 72 inch flat panel LCD TV…Hey, it’s for your best friend!
- A new car…Hey, It’s for your best friend!
- A trip to Disneyland with a 2 week stopover in Las Vegas
Whatever you do don’t give your bud a free car wash. What kind of gift is that? Best friend gift ideas are not that easy to come up with…especially at the last minute. Hooter’s gift certificates work in a pinch!
