Wall Mounted Spice Racks
If you have a kitchen that is the size of mine then you know that cabinet space is at a premium and wall mounted spice racks are a necessity. Some people are lucky enough to have the spice racks built right into their kitchen cabinets. But not me! I needed to hang a wall mount spice rack near the fridge.
There is nothing wrong with a wall mounted spice rack. As a matter fact some of them are quite nice. There are people that custom make them out of beautiful hardwoods. They are more like a work of art then a spice rack.
I really only use at most 5 spices when I cook. There are times I use more but in reality the bulk of the spice bottles are there for show. A spice rack looks empty and uninviting if it only has 5 bottles in it.
Wall mount spice racks have been around forever. If you ever pay close attention when watching an old western on the TV you will notice that when the women of the house was cooking she was pulling spices off the rack. When an item is useful it never loses its usefulness!
There are many different sizes of wall mounted spice racks. I have seen some that can hold as many as 100 different spice bottles. There are not that many women that would need a rack that big but some do feel the need to have one of that size.
When you design your next kitchen you will need to decide on having a built in spice rack or a place to hang one on the wall. It really does all come to personal preference.
